Job Title: Lineman
Duties: Perform skilled work in the construction and maintenance of electric cable and powerline systems, and adhere to strict safety regulations.

Must have successfully completed approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience and training. Must successfully complete placement/performance exercises. Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver License from state of residence.

Exposed to weather, traffic conditions and high voltage; subject to storm or emergency work and the normal hazards of construction work and physical activities such as climbing, walking, standing, bending, stooping, heavy lifting/pulling/pushing.

Job Title: Energy Technician (Part-time)

Duties: Inspect new/existing residential structures and make recommendations to residential customers, home builders, property owners/managers concerning methods, techniques or technologies to conserve energy; perform inspections of residential and multi-family rental units in order to insure compliance with the Rental Ordinance Section of the Memphis Housing Code; and investigate high electric, gas and/or water bill complaints.

Associate degree. Must have two years of construction or residential energy management experience. Must receive Home Energy Rating System (HERS) certification within six months of first taking the exam. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside and outside under good conditions. May be subject to construction hazards. Climbing, crawling, crouching and kneeling required. Subject to medium lifting.

Job Title: Mechanic

Duties: Perform mechanical maintenance/repair work on Division vehicles and heavy equipment in shop and/or field.

Associate degree in Automotive Technology; OR successfully completed Mechanic Apprenticeship program; OR have four current ASE/FPS certifications; OR four years of experience in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of automotive vehicles, or medium duty trucks or heavy equipment. ASE certifications A1-Engine Repair, or T1-Gasoline Engines, or T2-Diesel Engines and A6-Electrical/Electronics Systems or T6-Electrical/Electronic Systems are required, and based on departmental needs the two (2) remaining certifications will be determined from an approved ASE/FPS list. The approved ASE/FPS list includes: A1-A8; T1-T6, T8; F1; L1; and/or FPS certifications which include Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic, Hydraulic Technician and/or Application/Electronics Specialist. Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial driver’s license from state of residence within trial or probationary period after entering classification. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 03C “Mechanics”)/Performance Exercises. Must pass Color Blind I Test. Must be able to differentiate sounds when making adjustments.

Works inside and outside. Subject to hazards of operating machinery and irritation from oils, solvents, chemicals and fumes. Make service calls in the field. Performs heavy lifting. Subject to climbing, standing/walking for extended periods, and working in uncomfortable positions.

Job Title: Auditor

Duties: Conduct intermediate professional level independent audits of departments to determine the effectiveness of financial, administrative and operational controls; the reliability of accounting and other data; and the extent of compliance with federal, state and local regulations and standards and Division polices and procedures, in accordance with Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA) standards.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Must have two years of experience in auditing techniques and practices. Professional certification recognized by the IIA preferred. Must have skills in computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet packages, presentations and audit software applications and a working knowledge of personal computer-based operating systems. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works in office majority of time under good conditions. Subject to field audits.
