Job Title: Lineman
Duties: Perform skilled work in the construction and maintenance of electric cable and powerline systems, and adhere to strict safety regulations.

Must have successfully completed approved Lineman Apprenticeship Program or equivalent experience and training. Must successfully complete placement/performance exercises. Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver License from state of residence.

Exposed to weather, traffic conditions and high voltage; subject to storm or emergency work and the normal hazards of construction work and physical activities such as climbing, walking, standing, bending, stooping, heavy lifting/pulling/pushing.

Job Title: Work Management Engineer III

Duties: Apply senior-level engineering principles to the development/maintenance of compatible/macro units, which consist of resources such as materials, equipment, manpower and accounting for electric, gas and water distribution systems; provide quality control of the work management system by analyzing, troubleshooting, monitoring/explaining the work management process and its interaction with Division areas.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Must have four to six years of engineering experience. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works in office majority of time. Subject to construction hazards while making field inspections.

Job Title: Inspector Operator

Duties: Perform switching operations on facilities of the transmission, distribution and substation systems; perform inspections and troubleshooting of these systems and other related work associated with electric substation/transmission/distribution systems.

Must successfully pass Switching Test. Must have knowledge of Basic Electricity. Must be able to distinguish colors. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 011 “Line Mechanics”)/Performance exercises. Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering job. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works alone under all weather conditions. Works in proximity of energized high voltage equipment. Subject to climbing ladders, medium lifting, walking for extended periods of time, 24-hour call and shift work.

Job Title: Supervisor, Physical Security

Duties: Train, direct and supervise Division employees engaged in internal security work, which includes prevention, detection, investigation, parking and traffic services; coordinate company internal investigations; oversee company drug testing, required background checks and contracted employees.

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security or Business Administration with four years of investigation, or security/law enforcement supervisory experience. Must successfully complete Supervisor Assessment Center. Must successfully complete training for commission required by the Department of Commerce and Insurance. Must be able to obtain a Shelby County Special Deputy Commission. Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to any felony or misdemeanor to any violation of any federal/state laws or city ordinance; and honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the United States. Works inside and outside. Subject to hazards of security/investigation work and standing/walking for extended periods. Subject to 24-hour call.

Job Title: Security Dispatcher

Duties: Dispatch Security Officers or service agencies as appropriate and monitor radios, alarms and outside cameras via the CCTV system during their assigned shift.

High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years of security dispatch experience. Must successfully complete appropriate NERC Certification Exam within six months of entering job. Duties: Contact commercial, industrial and residential customers regarding service requests; prepare layout design/working sketches for new, revised or temporary electric, gas and water utility services; provide information concerning MLGW policies and procedures; prepare utility refund/service agreements, cost estimates and related documents.

Associate degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or high school diploma or G.E.D. with courses in Basic Electricity, Algebra, Trigonometry and (Advanced Electricity or Fundamentals of Gas), plus two years of design experience; or 4 years of design experience in positions with the following job codes: Layout Designer EE427, Gas Service Representative, Distribution GG237 or Water Service Representative WW809. Must successfully complete NIMS training within one year of entering job. Must successfully complete Placement (Group 001 “Drafters”)/Performance Exercises. Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works outside and inside. Subject to the hazards of working in the proximity to construction and energized conductors; light lifting/carrying, walking, climbing stairs/terrain, kneeling, bending, stooping and standing while working in the field.

Job Title: Computer Software Specialist III

Duties: Apply advanced-level business and information technology system practices and/or project management methodology in analyzing information requirements to determine hardware/software solutions; develop project plans; and implement, develop or maintain enterprise information systems to meet project deliverables.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or Business with a concentration in Information Systems or Math with a concentration in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 hours college-accredited Information Technology or Information Systems courses. Must have at least six years of experience and meet proficiency requirements. Must have demonstrated knowledge and skills in Oracle Forms, Oracle reports, ProC, PL/SQL. Must have at least one year of demonstrated experience as the primary support person for a particular system or application and demonstrated knowledge and skills in one or more of the following fields of expertise: Appworx, Apache Server, TOAD, Unix, Linux, Oracle, HTML, JAVA, XML or AJAX.

Preferred experience in one or more of the following: CIS Banner, Oracle E-business Suite modules; HR, OTL, OLM, Advanced Benefits, I-recruitment and Payroll modules.

Must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Works inside under good conditions. Subject to sitting for long periods of time at computer terminals; eye fatigue; grasping/reaching for technical manuals/printouts and distinguishing color; and occasional light lifting, bending, stooping/crouching to load computer equipment or paper and carry materials.
