EmPOWERing Sustainable Neighborhoods: Fix the Leak

Memphis Light, Gas and Water is hosting a LIVE webinar tomorrow, June 30, from 4 – 5 p.m. to talk about ways customers can reduce energy costs by performing minor repairs around their homes. Customers that register for the webinar at will receive a Zoom link for the event.

Roughly 80% of the typical energy bill goes towards home heating and cooling. Customers who weatherize and fix energy leaks could see savings on their bills. Wednesday’s workshop is titled “Fix the Leak” and is the latest webinar in a series devoted to empowering neighborhoods to become more sustainable. Join MLGW and learn about maximizing energy efficiency and finding the capital to invest in your home.

Guest panelists include MLGW Lead Energy Technician Tontae Weatherspoon Sr. Weatherspoon is a HERS certified energy technician and educates homeowners, home builders, landlords, and property managers on ways to save energy.

Julia Romine is the Director of Programs at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. She will discuss the Aging in Place program which serves older homeowners and focuses on accessibility improvements, mobility modifications, and critical home repairs that are crucial in helping those clients live in their own homes for as long as possible.

Executive Director of United Housing, Amy Schaftlein, knows about financial literacy, community building, mortgage lending and more. She will discuss home repair loans that can be used to improve your house.
