MLGW Crews Working To Restore Power: Estimated 33,000 restored since storm struck Thursday afternoon
June 6, 2014

An estimated 33,000 MLGW customers have had their power restored since a storm struck the Shelby County area Thursday afternoon. Damage remains widespread with poles and lines down.

MLGW crews have been working around the clock and will be joined by eight outside contract crews today. Restoration efforts, however, could be slowed as scattered showers move into the area this afternoon. Customers are urged to update their outage information by calling 544-6500.

Customers are reminded to call the following numbers:

To Report an Outage: 544-6500

To Report an Emergency (such as downed lines or gas leaks): 528-4465

All Other Inquiries: 544-MLGW (6549)

Outage numbers can be tracked via MLGW's outage map at mlgw.com/outagemap.

MLGW highly recommends that you have an "Emergency Kit" in case electric, gas or water service is interrupted.

An emergency survival kit could include:

Bottled water
Canned food
Prescription medicines
Flashlight
Radio
Batteries
Can opener
First-aid kit
Baby food
Diapers
Eating utensils

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 420,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County with some of the lowest combined rates in the nation.
