Unexpected storm impacts approximately 43,000 MLGW Customers
October 21, 2019

Eighty percent of customers impacted should be restored by midnight

(October 21, 2019, 12:00 p.m.) – Approximately 43,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County experienced outages as a result of an unexpected severe storm that began early Monday morning.  The 65 mph wind gusts caused significant damage to our system as a result of uprooted trees, broken poles and wires down across our service area.

Eighty percent of customers impacted are expected to be restored by midnight tonight.

Currently, 42 MLGW crews are working and the utility has requested assistance from outside entities.

MLGW crews will work quickly and safely and around the clock to restore services.
