Street Closures Due to Natural Gas Main Installation
November 4, 2025

Starting today, November 4 through Wednesday, November 12

MLGW closed the bicycle lane and the southernmost eastbound lane on E.H Crump Blvd. from Riverside Drive to Michigan Street due to installation of a new natural gas main.

MLGW will vent natural gas in the air at the intersection of E. H. Crump and S. Main St. and the intersection of E. H. Crump Blvd. and Kentucky Street during the repair. The public in the surrounding area may smell mercaptan in the air. Mercaptan is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.

Depending on the wind/weather conditions, residents and businesses in the vicinity could smell this strong, sulfuric acid odor during this process.
