Orleans Station offers fast charging, convenience to food/retail and the Interstate

Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division officially opened Orleans Station Fast Charge TN, the first of two new Fast Charge TN sites in Shelby County, Wednesday morning.

“This is what community partnership looks like,” said Doug McGowen, President and CEO of MLGW, acknowledging fellow partners: Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Seven States Power Company, University of Tennessee-Health Sciences Center and Henry Turley Company.

The Orleans Station site, located in the parking lot at 714 Madison Ave., adjacent to Rock’n Dough Pizza & Brewery, is another improvement in serving our customers and community. The site is ideal because of its proximity to the I-40 corridor and access to food and retail; the site will have four Level-3 charging stations that can fully charge an electric vehicle in about 30-40 minutes.

MLGW received a grant to open fast charge stations from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).

The second site will open in partnership with the town of Collierville at 175 Washington Street in June.
