Restoration Efforts Continue into Thursday Evening: Full Restoration to be complete by Saturday
June 16, 2016

(June 16, 2016, 4:30 p.m.) –MLGW crews have worked to restore services to more than 48,000 customers. Close to 54,000 customers were affected by the storms that moved through Shelby County Wednesday night.

5,085 customers remain without power. Restoration of services for these customers will be more time consuming due to the fact that these are smaller outages with severe damage. MLGW predicts full restoration of services to be complete by Saturday.  MLGW crews are working around the clock to restore power. The utility has also called in an additional 28 crews from Alabama, East Tennessee and Kentucky. In addition, approximately 50 tree trimming crews are working to clear tree damage.

MLGW is asking customers who are still without power to please call the MLGW Outage Hotline at 544-6500. To report an outage, customers will need to have their account number or the phone number that's associated with their account.

MLGW urges any customer without service to find a cool location. The City of Memphis has opened an After Hours Cooling Centers:  Pipkin Building, 940 Early Maxwell; Frayser Raleigh Senior Citizen Center, 3985 Egypt Central Rd;  and McWherther Senior Center, 1355 Estate Dr.,

When temperatures climb above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, take precautions by spending as much time as possible inside with the air conditioning, such as a shopping mall, library, senior center or movie theatre. Fans cannot provide enough cooling if the temperature is 90 degrees or above. Additionally, customers are encouraged to check on family, friends and neighbors.

Important MLGW contact information for customers:
•  Outage Reporting: 544-6500
•  Emergency: 528-4465 (This number should be treated like 911. Gas leaks, electrical lines down.)
•  Customer Care Center: 820-7878
