MLGW crews will perform routine maintenance on a gas main in the area of Lenow Road and Morning Sun starting at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 7. This planned work will require natural gas to be vented to the atmosphere for one hour.
The public in the surrounding areas may smell mercaptan in the air. This is the chemical odorant that MLGW adds to natural gas to give it the rotten egg/sulfur smell so it can be easily detected.
MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 429,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
