Restoration complete after more than 42,000 customers lost power following Thursday’s ice storm
February 13, 2021

(February 13, 2021, 8 p.m.) – “It was a difficult couple of days for many of our customers. I’m grateful that our crews, with the assistance of a number of outside crews, worked hard to complete a safe, focused restoration,” President and CEO J.T. Young stated.

Anyone still without power should call 544-6500.

We are asking customers for their patience as we are anticipating more extreme cold over the next few days. Freezing temperatures, ice on powerlines and predicted snow make for a wintry mix that can cause power lines to snap and water pipes to freeze.

Customers are strongly encouraged to let inside faucets run in a small, steady stream and to open cabinet doors leading to faucets. Outside faucets should be covered and insulated.

Additionally, cold weather and moisture can cause gas equipment to freeze. If you are without gas, please call 528-4465. We're available 24/7 to assist with emergencies.

Important MLGW contact information for customers:

• Outage Reporting: 544-6500

• Emergency: 528-4465 (This number should be treated like 911. Use it to report gas leaks and downed electrical lines.)

• Customer Care Center: 544-6549

• Online Outage Center: mlgw.com/home/outagecenter

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 429,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
