MLGW Planned Gas Work at Millington/Overton Crossing, August 16
August 11, 2021

MLGW crews will perform maintenance on a gas main at 4443 Millington Road (Millington/Overton Crossing). This planned work will require natural gas to be vented into the atmosphere. This routine work will occur on Monday, August 16, 2021 around 7 a.m. and last for two hours.

Natural gas is completely odorless. As a safety precaution, however, Memphis Light, Gas and Water adds a chemical, mercaptan, to the gas that gives it a distinctive odor similar to rotten eggs. This scent allows people to detect even the slightest amount of natural gas, both indoors and outdoors.

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 437,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
