Downtown Community Office to Resume Normal Operations on August 17
August 10, 2026

MLGW will conclude LIHEAP processing on August 14

Memphis Light, Gas and Water's Downtown Community Office, 245 S. Main St., will resume normal customer service operations on Monday, August 17, following the conclusion of its temporary role as a processing site for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications.

The final day for LIHEAP appointments at the Downtown Community Office will be Friday, August 14, until 12:30 p.m.

LIHEAP appointments can be scheduled through the QLess appointment system at mlgw.com/QLess. Walk-in services are available only for seniors, individuals with disabilities and customers experiencing a crisis. The Downtown Office is the only community office offering LIHEAP assistance.

MLGW and its partner, the Shelby County Community Services Agency, agreed to wind down and end temporary operations in the Downtown Office. About 90 MLGW employees from various departments were selected to support customers applying for LIHEAP assistance. To date, the team has served 11,689 customers and helped process applications that resulted in $6.5 million in preliminary utility assistance. There is still funding available for utility assistance, if you or someone you know needs help and meets the LIHEAP requirements.

Until normal operations resume in the Downtown Office, other MLGW customers can receive in-person service at the South (2935 Lamar Ave.) and Whitehaven (1111 E. Shelby Dr.) Community Offices. The Millington Office is closed for renovations. Customers can also pay bills online, by phone or at an authorized pay agent (mlgwagents.com).
