All customers who can accept power restored
The historic bow echo storm on August 22 was severe and deeply impactful to our residents, schools and businesses. MLGW is happy to report that all known customers impacted by the storm who can receive power have been restored.
We are aware of over a hundred customers for whom we cannot restore power because their homes were damaged by the storm. We have notified those residents of what they need to do. Our team will be available to those customers as soon as their homes are repaired and ready to receive power.
We appreciate the continued support of Memphis’ elected officials, the patience of our customers and the diligence and perseverance of the entire MLGW team and our partners who have worked so hard since Saturday evening to get us to this point.
As we always do, following recovery, we will assess both our preparedness and our response so that we can continue to improve.
Customers with Damaged Service Lines, Weatherheads and Meter Centers: MLGW advises customers who have damage to their electric service equipment such as weatherheads, conduits and meter centers to contact a qualified electrician to make repairs before MLGW can reconnect the customer’s electricity (See Weatherhead Video). In addition, the customer should contact MLGW to lower the service line (at no charge to the customer) so the customer’s contractor can safely perform the necessary work
