MLGW warns customers about scam callers
May 7, 2020
Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division asks customers to be on alert for criminals posing as MLGW operators and demanding money. Scammers often use a technology called “spoofing” to disguise their number and make it look like the call is coming from a legitimate business.

MLGW wants to reassure customers that our operators will never personally call demanding money and threatening disconnection.

If customers are unsure of their balance they can use their MLGW “My Account” to check for details. They can also contact an MLGW Customer Care Agent at 544-6549 to check their account balance.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water will never ask customers to call an 800 number or buy a pre-paid debit card.

A reminder for all customers: MLGW has temporarily suspended disconnecting service because of non-payment. Late fees are also suspended. These actions are in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 429,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
