A Memphis Light, Gas and Water lineman, Michael Nowlin, was fatally injured early this afternoon on a job site in the 7400 block of Barrett Oaks.

Nowlin had been with the Division since 2004.

The accident is under investigation.

Since 1941, Nowlin is the 37th employee to have died in the line of duty.

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 440,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
