Customers behind on utility bills encouraged to act now
July 30, 2025

Greater community encouraged to donate to Plus1

When temperatures are dangerously high, MLGW does not disconnect utility services for the safety and comfort of its customers. This has been the case since the Midsouth has been under a heat dome. However, this can cause some to get behind on their payments.

With cooler temperatures in the forecast, MLGW is encouraging customers to make arrangements before disconnections resume this week. MLGW doesn't want any of its customers to lose services. Don't wait. Customers should take action now.

Customers can check their balances in My Account. (Sign up in the MLGW app or on mlgw.com with 16-digit account number and access code on the bill.) Customers can also call (901) 544-6549 and make arrangements through MLGW’s automated system or with a Service Advisor.

For a full list of MLGW’s assistance programs, visit: mlgw.com/utilityassistance.

The greater community can assist neighbors in need by donating to the Plus1 program, which is filling in the gap caused by cuts to the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. To give to Plus1, sign up through My Account, call our Customer Care Center at (901) 544-6549 or go to mlgwpowerofgiving.com.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving the residents of Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee since 1939. MLGW consistently provides customers with rates that are amongst the lowest in the nation and stewards a water supply from artesian wells that is minimally treated. Actively engaged in promoting the prosperity of Memphis and Shelby County, MLGW supports the seven local chambers in its service area and makes doing business with local, minority- and women-owned business a priority. Deeply rooted in the community, its employees generously donate time and money in support of bettering the Greater Memphis area.
