MLGW News Release

Applications open on January 23 for the MLGW/MIFA Share the Pennies Home Weatherization Program
January 9, 2024

Memphis Light, Gas and Water, in partnership with the Metropolitan Interfaith Association (MIFA), will begin accepting applications for the Share the Pennies Home Weatherization Program at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23. MLGW customers can apply at MIFA.org/sharethepennies; those without internet access can call 529-4569 and leave their contact information. No applications will be accepted in person at MLGW or MIFA. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until program capacity is reached.

The Share the Pennies Home Weatherization Program has completed nearly 1,000 homes since 2018, all of them in Memphis and Shelby County. Share the Pennies is funded in part by MLGW customers that round up their utility bill to the next whole dollar. The weatherization methods used depend on the home but may include attic insulation, broken window repair/replacement, weatherstripping around doors and windows, and much more.

Visit MIFA.org/sharethepennies for a complete list of repairs as well as eligibility requirements.

Deeply rooted in the community, its employees generously donate time and money in support of bettering the Greater Memphis area.
