(December 24, 2022, 7 a.m.) MLGW has initiated rolling blackouts this morning after TVA re-issued a Step 50 Curtailment which means that all local power companies are required to drop between 5 and 10 percent of their total electrical load. This is necessary to avoid major outages across the MLGW and other local power companies service areas.

Rolling blackouts are possible all day. This means that service to an area will be interrupted for 30 minutes. Customers may experience outages two to three times a day on average.

 

All customers in MLGW’s service territory could be affected.
 

Critical facilities such as water pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, hospitals and airports are excluded from these blackouts.
