20,000 MLGW Customers Remain Without Power
October 21, 2019
Eighty percent of customers impacted should be restored by midnight

(October 21, 2019, 5 p.m.) – Approximately 20,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County still remain without power due to the severe storm that began early Monday morning.  The 65 mph wind gusts caused significant damage to our system as a result of uprooted trees, broken poles and wires down across our service area.

As crews continue to work to restore power, eighty percent of customers impacted are still expected to be restored by midnight tonight.

Four outside crews are assisting with restoration efforts this evening. Fifteen additional crews are expected to assist beginning on Tuesday. The crews will come from Nashville, Dixon, Clarksville, and Greenville, Tennessee; Paducah and Penny Rile, Kentucky; Olive Branch, Mississippi and Evansville, Indiana.

MLGW crews will work quickly and safely and around the clock to restore services.
