MLGW News Release

Statement from MLGW President Doug McGowen – January 17, 2024
January 17, 2024
Memphis Light, Gas and Water and electrical supplier Tennessee Valley Authority, have lifted the energy conservation alert. Thanks to all our customers who took action to conserve electricity. Together, we navigated the highest all-time peak demand the TVA system has seen.

MLGW electric, gas and water systems have performed well in these conditions – a special thanks to the MLGW team who has worked hard to keep our customers safe and comfortable. We continue to watch for impacts to our water system because of this extended cold period and will be ready to respond should the rain/freezing rain have any impact on our systems on Thursday.

We ask customers to continue to drip faucets and protect their pipes from freezing.
