MLGW's Claxton appointed US Magistrate for West Tennessee
May 29, 2009
(May 29, 2009) - MLGW Vice President of Human Resources Charmiane G. Claxton has been appointed a United States Magistrate Judge for West Tennessee. She had been with MLGW since January of 2009.

In her role at MLGW, Ms. Claxton was responsible for directing and overseeing the company-wide human resource functions.

Prior to coming to MLGW, Claxton practiced law with the Memphis firm of Apperson Crump & Maxwell, PLC. She has also held positions as the deputy director of human resources for the city of Memphis, assistant attorney for the city of Memphis, and general counsel for the Memphis Area Transit Authority.

"Char is an incredibly talented and dedicated woman. During her short time at MLGW she has made several changes that have benefited our employees and customers. Her appointment as a U.S. Magistrate is a tremendous honor. We will miss her greatly, but are happy to see her advance in her career," said MLGW President and CEO Jerry Collins.

Collins announced that Assistant Manager of Labor and Employee Relations Steve Day will serve as Vice President of Human Resources in an interim capacity.

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 420,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County.
