June 23, 2018

(June 23, 2018- 12:30 p.m.)

Morning storms moved through MLGW’s service territory Saturday causing extensive damage to our electric system. Consequently, almost 35,000 customers lost power.

MLGW crews are presently conducting damage assessment in conjunction with restoration efforts.

Based on early assessments, MLGW anticipates that the majority of our customers will be on within 24 to 48 hours. MLGW expects to complete full restoration efforts by Wednesday, June 27 but will provide updates as the restoration efforts continue.

MLGW crews are actively restoring services. About 15 out-of-town crews will be assisting. There is extensive damage with many poles and wires needing replacement. Crews are reporting heavy damage in Whitehaven, Hickory Hill, Germantown, Collierville, and South Memphis.

MLGW reminds customers to consider any downed wire to be dangerous and to not touch.
