MLGW News Release

MLGW prepared for possible wintry weather
January 31, 2007
With the possibility of winter weather moving into the Memphis and Shelby County area, MLGW is taking precautions to ensure that utility service will remain as reliable as possible.

At this time MLGW is staying in contact with the National Weather Service and closely monitoring the weather situation. Crews will be ready to respond to any reports of overnight service interruptions.

"MLGW has a long history of quickly and safely restoring power during weather-related situations and we have worked recently to strengthen our response efforts. We are ready to serve our customers every day and will be ready to serve them if we have winter weather tonight," said MLGW President and CEO Joseph Lee, III.

Customers are reminded to call 544-6500 to report an electric outage. The automated outage reporting system will receive the report and let customers know of a possible restoration time, if one is available. Customers are asked, however, not to report their outage more than one time, as multiple reports can slow the restoration process.

MLGW is the largest three-service public power utility in the nation, serving more than 420,000 customers in Memphis and Shelby County with some of the lowest combined rates in the U.S.
